School Health Check-up Programme organized by the department of Community Medicine

Department of Community Medicine, Rama Medical College & Research Centre, Mandhana, Kanpur has organized a School Health Check-up Program under “Mahamana Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya student health monitoring scheme" under the expert guidance of Dr. Prof. Anju Gahlot (HOD) Department of Community Medicine RMCH, RC Kanpur at Onkareshwar Saraswati Vidya Niketan School, Jawahar Nagar, Kanpur from 5-12-2022 to 09-12-2022.
Health of school children is an important factor for their education, transformation and development. Keeping this in mind, The Government of India included school health program under Ayushman Bharat in April 2018 and presented its operational guidelines in which it is recommended to make periodic health check-up of students and their health records maintenance mandatory in all schools. This is a self-sustained scheme for the betterment of student’s health. This scheme will definitely play an important role in the bright future and also development of our country.
Programme was conducted by a team of doctors of Department of Community Medicine involving Department of Ophthalmology, Department of ENT and Medical Social Workers. Prior to the programme a meeting was held on 3rd December 2022 in the Department of Community Medicine with all deputed Doctors staff and MSW for the above Camp. Dr. Prof. Anju Gahlot addressed the meeting and distributed the role and responsibility of every team members for smooth conduction of the above program. List of Duty Doctors , Staff as follows – Dr. Atul Kumar Singh , Dr. Chitra Rani Chauhan , Dr. SP Singh , Dr. Abid Ali Ansari , Dr. Pooja Das along with SR , PG ,Tutors , Interns and MSW.
Beneficiaries of scheme were-
- Primary School going Children
- Secondary and higher secondary school going Children.
Health checkup included:
- General examination: Height, Weight, BMI, Vitals, head and Neck along with examination of abdomen, nails, skin etc.
- Oral examination: Oral Cavity, Gums, Teeth, Tongue , Dental Caries, Bad Breath, Lymph Nodes and teeth occlusion.
- ENT Examination: Ear Infections, Tinnitus, Nose Bleeds, Sinus Problems, Dysphagia, Tonsil and Adenoid Problems.
- Ophthalmological Examination: Vision test, and other Ophthalmological measurements.
- Psychological Examination
- Dietary and nutrition pattern.
Program ended on 09/12/2022 with a complete health check-up of 1235 students and School staff.
The experience of the week was great ,School health services are primarily meant for preserving and promoting health of the students. School is the best place for giving health education and make a strong foundation to the healthy Nation.
