Report on World Aids Day 2022 Extension Activity

Rama University’s Faculty of Dental Sciences, Department of Public Health Dentistry Lakhanpur, Kanpur, organized a free Dental Screening Camp and AIDS awareness rally at Laxmi Complex, T.P Nagar, Kanpur in callobration with Apollo tyres health care system on the occasion of World AIDS day. This free dental camp was held on 1stDecember 2022 under the expert guidance of Principal- Dr. Baljeet Singh Hora and Head of Department (Public Health Dentistry) – Dr. Nidhi Pruthi Shukla and Dr. Jaspreet Singh Tuteja – (Reader).
A Team of 8 doctors and paramedical staff left the college at sharp 9:00 am and reach the venue at 9:30 am. All the necessary arrangements were made and screening of patient’s started at 9:45 am.
This camp was organized on the occasion of World AIDS Day which gives an excellent opportunity to interact with people to raise awareness regarding HIV, for which a rally was conducted. A total of 62 patients were examined. Common oral health problems that were observed in the patients included dental caries, dirty teeth, gums problems, bad breath and mal-aligned teeth. Patients with medical problems were also observed by the respective doctors. Out of 62 patients, 50 patients required treatment; they were referred to Rama Dental College Hospital & Research Centre Lakhanpur, Kanpur.
Oral Health education was imparted regarding the importance of adopting healthy lifestyle and good oral hygiene practices, through tooth brushing demonstration, charts and models. The purpose of the Oral Health drive was to create awareness among the patients.
The camp was conducted in coordination with Mr. Subramanyan, Public Relation Officer and patients were examined by Dr. Smriti Tripathi (3rd year postgraduate student), Dr. Satyavrta Rai (Intern) , Dr. Shruthi Krishna (Intern), Dr. Shreya Sachan(Intern), Dr. Shreya Gupta (Intern), Dr. Shreya Verma (Intern) and Dr. Shruthi Bhatia( Intern)
