Rama Medical College Hospital & Research Centre Mobilizes for Global Diabetes Awareness on World Diabetes Day

On November 20, 2023, World Diabetes Day, Rama Medical College Hospital & Research Centre and Vimla Nursing College organized an inspiring talk show and a lively "Global Diabetes Walk" as part of a united fight against the worldwide diabetes crisis.
Under the expert guidance of Dr. Anju Gahlot, Head of the Department of Community Medicine, the event drew attention to the stark statistics unveiled by the IDF Diabetes Atlas. With 537 million adults grappling with diabetes globally in 2021, the collaborative initiative stressed the pressing need for "Access to Diabetes Care."
Walking Towards Awareness
The day kicked off with the spirited "Global Diabetes Walk" from 11 am to 12 noon. Faculty, students, and participants from nursing and paramedical backgrounds took to the streets, spreading awareness about the global magnitude of diabetes and the importance of prevention and management.
Educational Talk Shows
Following the walk, Dr. Anju Gahlot addressed all faculty and students in a session titled "Diabetes in Women Prevention & Awareness" from 12:30 pm to 1 pm. Dr. Rajesh Jain took the stage thereafter, delving into "Diabetes Prevention & Wellness" from 1 pm to 1:30 pm. These sessions aimed to equip attendees with valuable insights into the nuances of diabetes and practical steps towards a healthier lifestyle.
The program culminated in a certificate distribution ceremony from 1:30 pm to 2 pm, acknowledging the active participation and dedication of individuals in the fight against diabetes. The certificates served as a testament to the collective commitment to raising awareness and fostering a community dedicated to diabetes care.
The day's experiences resonated with a powerful message: "Let's all be a part of the change to eradicate Diabetes." The collaborative effort implored individuals to unite for equitable access to essential care, emphasizing practical steps people with diabetes can take to minimize complications.
The program successfully achieved its objectives, ranging from raising global awareness of diabetes as a critical public health issue to educating both diabetic patients and health professionals on the multifaceted aspects of the disease.
