Nikshay Diwas and Poshak Ahar Vitran

Under the National Tuberculosis elimination program distribution of "Poshak Ahar Vitran" Round- 4 was done to 10 T.B patients adopted by RMCH RC Kanpur on 15/02/2023. The event was organized at UHTC Department of Community Medicine Navsheel Dham RMCH RC Kanpur under the guidance of Dr. Prof. Anju Gahlot (HOD) Department of Community Medicine and Nodal Officer for Nikshay Diwas. Celebration of the "Nikshay Diwas" was also done by educating the public about the "Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan" at RHTC, Shivrajpur.

Key insights of the event
Dr. Prof. Anju Gahlot welcomed and explained to the TB patients about the disease and the importance of its complete treatment, intake of nutritious diet and exercises (Pranayam). She also instructed the patient to avoid transmission of Tuberculosis. Dr. Prof. Atul Kumar Singh communicated and enquired to the patients about their health problems, diet and treatment. They were also made aware of the harmful effects of tobacco intake and its dreadful outcome. They were motivated to stop tobacco intake and forbid others to intake tobacco in any form. Dr. Poonam Kushwaha communicated and spoke to the patients about their health problems, diet and treatment. Dr. R.P. Gupta also interacted with TB patients and encouraged them to the TB treatment.
Clinical examination of the patients was carried out, which helped us to track the health status of the patients. Clinical chest examination of the pulmonary T.B. patients revealed better lung status and also their symptoms subsided by a great margin. The extra-pulmonary patients are also showing improvement in their symptoms. Weight gain was also present which proved the right path of treatment. None of the patients had a weight loss pattern.
Nikshay Diwas and Anti-Tobacco Awareness program was also conducted at RHTC RMCHRC Department of Community Medicine. Under the guidance of Dr. Prof. Anju Gahlot (HOD Dept. of Community Medicine) and Dr. Abid Ali Ansari (M.O. RHTC), Dr. S.P. Singh (Associate Professor) and Dr. Harish Chandra Paliwal (Associate Professor) Dept. of Community Medicine.
Education about prevention and control of Tuberculosis.
Patients were advised for Regular T.B. treatment without gaps in Nutrition, Diet Exercise and self-care. They were instructed to wear a mask and maintain proper hygiene and measures to avoid Infection spreading to others. They were also made aware of the harmful effects of tobacco intake and its dreadful outcome. They were motivated to stop tobacco intake and forbid others to intake tobacco in any form. The event was concluded with a thank you note and a short speech on TB and its elimination by the dignitaries.
