National Innovation & Start-up Policy 2019

An amazing day for student entrepreneurs as well as people actively & passionately involved in promoting the culture of innovation & entrepreneurship on educational campus. Ministry of HRD, Gov. of India, released 1st draft of the National Innovation & Start-up Policy 2019 for Students & Faculty! Indeed a very welcoming step. Here are the key highlights of the policy :
Policy Highlights :
1. Students can take an academic break for a semester/year to pursue their start-up dream & re-join academics to complete their course.
2. Students may be allowed to start up in place of their mini/major projects, summer training, etc.
3. Students may get academic credits for working on innovative products, business models, etc.
4. Student entrepreneurs who fall short of the required minimum attendance due to their involvement in start-up be allowed to appear for exams. –
5. Faculty is encouraged to mentor at-least one student start-up every year.
6. Faculty efforts towards encouraging student start-ups, mentoring student entrepreneurs, contributing to entrepreneurship/innovation initiatives be considered for performance appraisal/promotion.
