20 Mar 2023
An industrial visit to Namaste India Milk Industry was organized on 16th March 2023 for students from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Allied Industries (FASAI) at Rama University. The aim of the visit was to explore the processing, handling, managing, and distributing of milk and its products. The dairy farming system is known to enhance sustainable livelihoods of farmers in drought-prone areas, making it an important activity for poverty alleviation, employment, and nutritional-related problems, especially in rural areas.
As part of a balanced diet, milk and dairy products are an important source of dietary energy, protein, and fat. The present study aimed to analyze the contribution of dairying to income, employment, and food security of rural farming households. Dairying is practiced in a mixed farming rural setup in most parts of the country. The growing consumption of dairy and other livestock products is bringing important nutritional benefits to large segments of the population of developing countries, although many millions of people in developing countries are still not able to afford better-quality diets owing to the higher cost.
Around 50 students from FASAI, along with two faculty members, visited the Namaste India Milk Industry. The visit provided the students with an insight into the different opportunities available for developing a career in milk and its associated products. The students found the industrial visit to be highly beneficial for incubating ideas regarding career opportunities, working environments, and functioning of the industry.
The industrial visit to Namaste India Milk Industry was a great learning experience for the students, as they were able to witness the entire process of milk production, starting from the collection of raw milk to the final packaging and distribution of milk and milk products.
