Rama University Faculty of Nursing Marks National New Born Week with Impactful Community Outreach
24 Nov 2023
The Rama University in Uttar Pradesh's Faculty of Nursing made an important impact in Kukradev Village, Kalyanpur, during National New Born Week 2023 by organizing an educational Street Play as part of their Community Extension Outreach Programme. The celebration's theme this year was "Safety, Quality, and Nurturing Care - Birthright of Every Newborn." The Department of Obstetrical and Gynecological Nursing and the Department of Child Health Nursing coordinated the event, which saw active involvement from all fourth-year B.Sc. Nursing students.
The goal of the Street Play, which ran from 10:15 AM to 12:15 PM on the first day of the celebration, was to increase public awareness of the critical first 28 days of a newborn's life. The play emphasized the need of getting the right care during this time, stressing the dangers and the long-term effects on the development and health of the newborn.
Students demonstrated their dedication to community health by being involved in the local community. At the same time, a health expo was held, with charts made by fourth-year B.Sc. nursing students. Topics including Immunization Schedule, Exclusive Breastfeeding, Antenatal Care and Visits, and Newborn Care were covered in the charts. About 150 neighborhood members attended the thought-provoking street play, which successfully communicated important information and showed appreciation for the students' efforts.
The success of the event can be attributed to the seamless coordination and cooperation between the faculty and students. The Faculty of Nursing at Rama University remains dedicated to fostering health awareness and community engagement, contributing to the broader goal of promoting the well-being of newborns and their families. As the National New Born Week celebration continues, Rama University reaffirms its commitment to excellence in healthcare education and community service.
