Journalism Students Visit Amar Ujala, Lucknow
On 14 February 2019, the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication organized an industrial visit at Amar Ujala printing press, situated in Nadarganj, Lucknow for students of bachelor’s of Journalism and Mass Communication (BJMC), Master’s of Journalism and Mass Communication (MJMC), and Post graduate diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication (PGDJMC) who are accompanied by three faculties and a camera person of the department.
They interacted with Mr. Shailendra Pandey, the manager of Amar Ujala, Nadarganj, Lucknow and discussed latest printing technology and procedure which is used in print media to print newspaper. Students were shown that two rows of the printing press mounted in Amar Ujala, i.e., liner printing machine and high liner printing machine row. The printing department connects seven printing machines in a liner, and they print 28 pages, 4 pages in each machine.
Although, both liners printing machines have the ability to print 28 pages at a time and one-liner printing press print 43200 copies in an hour but they use it as per requirement of newspaper copies. They have different machines for different work such as seven machines for printing, a roller, cuter, and punching machine. These machines were interconnected with each other. These machines were working together in command, and automatically print newspaper; and it reaches through roller at counting machine, which makes bundles of 100 newspapers. Mr. Shailendra demonstrated printing machine and printed a few newspapers for the students. Thereafter, students were shown a documentary based on all phases of a news media including news input to newspaper publishing.
