Voice of Change: Debate Competition
01 Apr 2019
Department of Journalism & Mass Communication in collaboration with training & Placement Cell organized a debate competition titled Voice of Change at V.C Building ground on March 11, 2019.
The panelists of the debate program were Ajit Rai, a student of DJMC, Faculty of Professional Studies, Rohan Singh, a student of Juridical Sciences, Diksha Pal, a student of Faculty of Commerce & Management Sciences, and moderator - Divya Bajpai, Student of DJMC, Faculty of Professional Studies.
The debate was centered on the complex Indo-Pak Relations due to a number of historical and political events. However, the discussion was focused mainly on the recent activities which began on 14th Feb 2019 as a terror attack on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in which nearly 40 CRPF men were killed by a Jaish-e-Mohammad, a Pakistani terrorist group. In response to which India conducted a surgical strike on February 25, 2019, to destroy terror camps in Balakot. On February 27, 2019, Pakistan retaliated with a ceasefire violation but India aggressively fought back. However, Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman crossed over India at the Attari-Wagah border after his Mig-21 Bison fighter jet was shot down by the Pakistan Army after an aerial skirmish between the countries' air forces at the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. He was held captive in Pakistan for 2 days and was released by the Pakistani government as a declaration that it does not want a war.
The recent event has made the relations stressful for both the countries and the possibility of war is still looming over our head. It’s high time India and Pakistan must resolve their issues and avoid war at all cost. However, It will be interesting to see whether India and Pakistan will break all its political, business, and cultural ties or will it work out a middle ground and scrap out terrorism together.
The Voice of Change provided a platform to discuss Indo-Pak relations by answering 16 critical questions centered on it. It brings forward different viewpoints and also highlights the possible solution to these uptight issues.
The Concept of debate show was developed & created by Dr. Santosh Kumar Gautam, Dean- Department of Journalism & Mass Communication and the coordinator of the program was Mr. Tanuj Chawla, Head T & P Cell, Rama University. The objective of these debate forums is to:
