Rama University Kicks Off International Women’s Week with Energy and Empowerment

International Women's week (IWD), celebrated from March 4th to 9th, serves as a global reminder of the immense contributions women make to society, while also highlighting the ongoing struggle for gender equality.
In celebration of International Women's Day, Rama University is hosting a series of events to honour the contributions of women. Activities such as a walkathon, yoga sessions, diet and nutrition workshops, cultural performances, and sports events will take place throughout the week. These events aim to promote health, well-being, and empowerment while fostering a sense of community and highlighting the importance of women’s roles in society.
To mark this important occasion. The Faculty of Nursing, Rama University, Uttar Pradesh, Kanpur, inaugurated the remarkable International Women's week day one started on March 5th, 2025, with a vibrant celebration of Walkathon aimed at recognizing and empowering women from all walks of life. The theme of this year is “Accelerate Action”. The event was organized to promote awareness of gender equality and to raise funds for various women’s empowerment initiatives. It was an empowering and inspiring day of solidarity, drawing attention to the ongoing struggle for equal rights and opportunities for women everywhere.
The Walkathon started from in front of VC Secretariat, Rama University with a route spanning to in and around of Rama campus Symbolizing the progress of women in every sector of life, education, arts, and more. Volunteers were stationed along the route, ensuring safety and providing support to the walkers.
The event commenced with a warm welcome to all the radiant women of Rama University, followed by the ceremonial Ribbon cutting by esteemed guests, including Prof. Dr. Vaishali Dhingra, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce & Management, Prof Dr. Anita Yadav, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Sciences & allied industries, Prof. Dr. C S Raghuvanshi, Dean of FET, Prof. Dr. Poonam, Dean Faculty of Professional Studies and Prof. Dr. Jasmi Johnson, Principal, Faculty of Nursing, along with other dignitaries and faculty members from various department. Prof. Dr. Jasmi Johnson delivered words of appreciation and encouragement, emphasizing the importance of women's empowerment in today's society. The walk was launched by the significance speech by Mrs. Niladrita Deb, Walkathon in charge who delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the importance of women’s empowerment and the strides that have been made, as well as the work still needed in advancing gender equality.
The Walkathon on International Women's week celebration-2025 was a huge success, with a total of 300 wome bringing together individuals to celebrate the achievements of women while also reflecting on the work yet to be done in the fight for gender equality. It was a powerful reminder of the collective strength and resilience of women around the world and a call to action for continued progress. The event served as a reminder of the collective efforts needed to foster gender equality and inclusivity in all spheres of life.
As Rama University continues its journey towards creating a more equitable and inclusive society, events like these stands as testament to its commitment to nurturing and empowering women to realize their full potential.
