Legal Aid Camp on POCSO Act Held by Rama University in Kanpur

Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh — The Free-Legal Aid Centre of the Faculty of Juridical Sciences, Rama University, Kanpur, organized a Legal Aid Camp on the "Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO)" at Shrddha Shiksha Niketan Purva Madhyamik Vidyalaya Gabaraha, Kanpur Nagar, on September 6, 2024. The event was held under the supervision of Dr. Praveen Kumar Mall, Dean of the Faculty of Juridical Sciences (FJS), with the active participation of both faculty and student coordinators.
During the camp, students were engaged in an open and candid discussion about recognizing the difference between good touch and bad touch. The session aimed to sensitize children to trust their parents or guardians with any uncomfortable or concerning experiences they may face. Following this, the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, were thoroughly explained. The students were made aware of the procedures to be followed in case of any offences under the POCSO Act.
Outcome Achieved: The camp was deemed a success, as students actively participated in the discussions and gained a clear understanding of the difference between good touch and bad touch. Additionally, they learned about the various provisions of the POCSO Act, 2012, and the steps to report any violations effectively.
