HIV AIDS Awareness Program at Bhawanipur Village

HIV/AIDS education plays a vital role in its management and prevention. Education is, therefore, a key component to help people develop insight into issues of HIV/AIDS management and assist in the creation of a safe environment which is free from discrimination and stigma.
On April 6, 2019, the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication- Rama University organized a street-play with the aim to sensitize the areas with high illiteracy level. The play empathized with people living with HIV/AIDS and spoke on the role of the community towards reducing stigma and discrimination against them. Thus, the core objective of the street play was to:
- Address stigma & discrimination towards PLHAs and HIV/AIDS
- Create awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention
- Dispel myth & misconceptions pertaining to HIV/AIDS
- Inform about the causes and prevention of HIV/AIDS
HIV doesn’t discriminate therefore awareness program about its occurrence and spread is very significant in protecting the people from the epidemic.
The play was received well with the audience. It was narrated by Abhay Singh- MJMC, First Year and Anushka Mishra-BJMC, First year. The participants of the street play were Arpit Dixit- BJMC, First Year, Subhangi Mishra- BJMC, First Year, Anushka Pandey- BJMC, First Year, Divya Bajpai- BJMC, Second Year, Aditya Srivastava- BJMC, Second year, and Nishant Pal- MJMC, First Year. The script was written by Divya Bajpai-BJMC, Second Year and Jyoti Srivastava, PGDJMC.
The program was organized under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Santosh Kumar Gautam (HOD, Department of Journalism & Mass Communication-Rama University), Miss Nitika Ambastha, and Miss Nikunj (Faculties of Journalism and Mass Communication).
