Faculty of Paramedical Sciences Celebrates World Physiotherapy Day with Enthusiasm and Education

The Faculty of Paramedical Sciences, Department of Physiotherapy, celebrated World Physiotherapy Day on September 7th, 2024, with the theme "Low Back Pain (LBP) & The Role of Physiotherapy in its Management and Prevention." The event, held between 10:00 am and 01:00 pm, witnessed the participation of 134 physiotherapy students at LT-2 FPMS.
The day commenced with an inauguration ceremony featuring a lamp-lighting session, attended by the organizers and faculty members of the Paramedical Sciences department. Dr. Nidhi Agarwal, the event convenor, gave a warm welcome and introduction, followed by the lighting of the lamp by the Principal, Dr. Brijendra Nigam (Patron), along with Dr. Nidhi Agarwal and other faculty members including Dr. Apoorva Srivastava, Dr. Gulwish Sadique, Dr. Minhaj Tahir, Mr. Satyendra Singh Sachan, Ms. Meghna Verma, Mrs. Swastika Singh Chandel, and Ms. Poonam Yadav.
Celebrating the Vital Role of Physiotherapy
The celebration focused on recognizing the crucial role of physiotherapists in healthcare, emphasizing the importance of physical therapy in enhancing quality of life. The event featured several engaging and informative activities, beginning with the Saraswati Vandana performed by Samridhi Anand and Namrta Patra. This devotional hymn paid homage to Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and learning, aligning with the theme of education and professional development in physiotherapy.
The event continued with insightful speeches from esteemed faculty members, highlighting the significance of physiotherapy, recent advancements in the field, and the dedication required to excel as a physiotherapist. The faculty also shared personal experiences, inspiring students to pursue excellence in their professional journey.
Engaging Activities and Competitions
The day was marked by a variety of activities designed to educate, entertain, and engage participants:
- Rapid Quiz Round: A lively segment with questions related to physiotherapy history and practices. It was a well-received activity that added excitement and engagement to the event. Winners included Aradhya and Parul.
- Face Painting Competition: This competition allowed participants to express their creativity, adding a vibrant and imaginative touch to the celebration. The winning team consisted of Aryan and Jahnvi.
- Poster and Logo Competitions: Participants designed informative posters and logos that symbolized the essence of physiotherapy. The designs were judged based on creativity, relevance, and visual appeal. The winner of the logo competition was Alex.
A Memorable Celebration
The celebration of World Physiotherapy Day was a resounding success, combining cultural, educational, and creative activities. It honoured the profession while fostering a deeper appreciation for the vital role of physiotherapists in society. The event created a memorable and impactful day for all attendees, promoting the importance of physiotherapy in managing and preventing low back pain.
