17th Batch Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony Held at Rama University

Kanpur, December 3, 2024 – The Faculty of Nursing at Rama University hosted the 17th Batch Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony, marking the formal induction of B.Sc (N), GNM, and ANM students for the 2024-2025 academic session. Held at the Rama University Auditorium, the event was a significant milestone in the students' journey into the noble profession of nursing.
The ceremony commenced at 10:30 AM with an atmosphere of warmth and anticipation. The esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Rina Kumari, Principal of the College of Nursing, Govt Medical College, Jalaun, U.P., inaugurated the event by lighting the traditional lamp alongside distinguished dignitaries, including Prof. Dr. Janardhan Amarnath B.J (Vice Chancellor, Rama University), Dr. Prateek Singh (Director, Rama University), and others.
The welcome address by Mr. Deepak Suwalka, Associate Professor, Faculty of Nursing, set the tone for the day. Prof. Jasmi Manu, Principal of the Faculty of Nursing, highlighted the event's significance in her presidential address, followed by an inspiring speech by Dr. Rina Kumari and the Vice Chancellor.
A pivotal moment of the ceremony was the lighting of candles by the new nursing students, symbolizing their commitment to the values of compassion and dedication upheld in the nursing profession. This was followed by the Oath Taking Ceremony, where students pledged to serve humanity with integrity and professionalism.
Mrs. Jyothi Sree from the Medical-Surgical Nursing Department shared the historical importance of the Lamp Lighting Ceremony, drawing a connection to Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. Additional guidance and encouragement were provided by Dr. Hari Om Sharan, Dean of Academics & Planning, Rama University.
The event featured a cultural program organized by the students, showcasing their talent through music and dance performances, embracing the theme of unity in diversity.
The ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Aslam Abbas, Associate Professor and HOD of the Community Health Nursing Department. Attendees united in singing the National Anthem before enjoying a delightful lunch, leaving them with lasting memories of the meaningful event.
