Student Cohort
The Rama University Student Cohort has been constituted with the following Members:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary
- Associate Secretary (Extension Activities & Student Welfare)
- Joint Secretary (Sports, Cultural, Discipline & Hostel development) – Medical Core
- Joint Secretary (Sports, Cultural, Discipline & Hostel development) – Non Medical Core
- ELIGIBILITY OF STUDENTS FOR THE MEMBERSHIP:
- He/she is a citizen of India.
- First & Second Merit Holders of Each Faculty.
- Outstanding Performers of Sports, Cultural & Other Co-Curricular Activities.
- He/she should not have failed in any examination of the Board/ University.
- He/she should not have any academic arrears on the date of nomination.
- He/ she should have attained at least 75% of attendance.
- The candidate should not have a previous criminal record i.e. he/she should not have beentried and/or convicted for any offence.
- He/she should not have been punished by the University for any act of indisciplineincluding ragging, violence, assault or use of unfair means in the examination.
He/she should not have attracted the provisions of Ordinances on acts ofmisconduct/indiscipline as defined in Statute of the University
- OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDENT COHORT:
- Discipline and decorum in the University.
- Mutual contact, democratic outlook, and spirit of oneness among students of the University.
- Social harmony among all students and to work towards their cultural and academic development. Close and cordial relations between students and teachers of the University.
- Leadership quality among students and a consciousness of the University, to equip them for becoming responsible citizens.
- Self-reliance, service to the people and duty towards development of the nation.
- ACTIVITIES OF THE RAMA UNIVERSITY STUDENT COHORT:
The activities of the RU Student Cohort are classified into following broad areas.
May make suggestions for improving financial aid, library and other common facilities.
May make recommendations for augmenting the facilities in the hostels.
Shall work to curb the acts of misconduct by the students. The RU Student Cohort shall, through its Dean Student Welfare/Asst. Dean Student Welfare, maintain close contact with students to assess cause of resentment and dispute
and attempt to resolve the same amicably.
May promote various social activities on the campus.
- Cultural and Literary Activities:
May function as partaker in the cultural and literary activities organized by the University at the Faculty and University level. The RU Student Cohort shall motivate the students to participate in different cultural and literary activities.
May function as partaker in the sports activities organized by the University at the Faculty and University level. The RU Student Cohort shall motivate the students to participate in different sports activities.
- CODE OF CONDUCT FOR MEMBERS AND OFFICE BEARERS:
- The members or the Office Bearers of the RU Student Cohort are expected to set a model of floor ethics in the Council meetings and outside.
- No member or the Office Bearer of the RU Student Cohort shall abuse or misuse his position to detriment the image and reputation of the University.
- No member or the Office Bearer of the RU Student Cohort shall indulge in immoral or criminal activities.
- No member or the Office Bearer of the RU Student Cohort shall coerce or threaten any member of the University.
- The member or the Office Bearer of the RU Student Cohort should ordinarily refrain from associating with any political parties.
- The member or the Office Bearer of the RU Student Cohort should volunteer such activities which further the objectives of the Student Cohort.
- The member or the office bearer of the RU Student Cohort shall not in any manner interfere in the internal management, administration or working of the University, Institutions or establishments run or managed by it.
- The members and the office bearers of RU Student Cohort shall not coerce or exert undue pressure upon the President in order to receive his concurrence and approval on any proposed agenda.
- All the members of the RU Student Cohort shall maintain a high standard of Parliamentary dignity and decorum in every meeting or proceeding of the Council.
- The violation of any of the above mentioned provisions may lead to disqualification of the Member/Office Bearer.
- QUORUM:
The quorum of the RU Student Cohort shall be half of the total strength of the Council.
- FREQUENCY OF THE MEETING:
The meeting of the RU Student Cohort shall be held at least once in 6 months.
- POWER TO MAKE RULES:
The Vice-Chancellor shall have the power to frame rules for implementation of the provisions of the Ordinances.
- TENURE:
The representatives in the RU Students Cohort shall, unless otherwise disqualified in accordance with the provisions of these Ordinances, hold the office from the day of formation of the RU Student Cohort till the 30th day of April.
- PROGRAMME/ACTIVITY IMPLEMENTATION:
- The Dean of Students shall act as coordinator & meet the routine requirements of the RU Student Cohort.
- The Assistant Dean Student Welfare concerned shall meet the routine requirements of the Student Cohort under supervision of Dean Student Welfare.
- The Dean Student will ensure proper utilization of fund earmarked for the sports & cultural activities (if any) and properly audited submitted to the accounts department.
- The organizational aspects of various programmes and activities recommended by the Student Cohort and approved by the University shall be looked after by the University.
- MISCELLANEOUS
The RU Student Cohort shall not invite any person, who is not on the rolls of the University, without a prior approval of the Vice-Chancellor.
- COMMENCEMENT
These Ordinances or any amendment therein shall come into effect from the date of notification.
