Academic Policies
1. Academic calendar
- Academic calendar must be framed under supervision of Vice-Chancellor by the Dean academics in collaboration of all concerned before beginning of each academic session to strengthen and monitor the academic and other activities of the Institute, as per guidelines, framed by the statuary bodies of the university.
- Dean academics will hold the meeting of all Faculty Heads/ HOD’s before beginning of each session| semester and put up the proposed academic calendar of particular session| semester.
- After discussion on each point all dates will be finalized & then it will be put up to the Vice-Chancellor for the sanction On the basis of recommendations of the Vice-Chancellor & the it will be further put up in Academic council for approval.
- Dean Academics will be responsible to implement the academic calendar in collaboration with all concerned authorities. If there is any change it should be pre approved by the Vice-Chancellor and further put up for the approval in next meeting of Academics Council.
2. Instructional methods and pedagogical initiatives
- Faculty Heads / HODs of each department will demonstrate the methods of teaching and other academic related matters at the time of joining of new faculty members.
- Each faculty member will be responsible to teach the students by applying very simple approach of teaching methods.
- Faculty members will be trained by various FDP's either organized by the Institute or by sending them at other place as required.
- Each faculty member will be responsible to involve in collaborative learning by taking some real life examples.
- It is required that at least 10 to 15% of syllabus will be taught by using latest teaching methodology such as ICT based learning as per requirement in syllabus.
- Each Faculty / Department will have menter-mentee groups (Approx 25 to 30 students in each group).
- Respective Deans / Head of Department will be responsible to implement said parameters in faculty / department and a report will be send to Dean Academics at the end of each semester or whenever required.
- The Dean Academics will put up the report to the Vice-Chancellor for further necessary action.
3. Policy for Weak students
- As per guidelines of University, Faculties will hold the Sessional examinations in each course and some class tests as required by subject teacher.
- Weak students will be identified on the basis of result of first Sessional exam, report of respective mentor and class test.
- On the basis of above report special mentoring will be done in each of the identified student.
- After result of second Sessional examination if there is no improvement in identified students, remedial classes will be arranged of those subjects in which students will lack. Remedial classes may be scheduled in evening or in day time by arranging some slots in time table.
- Respective HOD will be responsible to arrange the remedial classes of the students; also he|she will monitor the attendance & syllabus progress of the students.
- All Faculty Deans will send the report regarding remedial classes to the Dean Academics & the Dean will provide the complete analysis to the Director for further necessary action.
4 . Policy for bright students
Following are the guidelines have been designed for bright students….
- All those students who will secure the position in University merit list, fee of respective year of such students will be relaxed by the university.
- All those students who will get the first position in Sessional examinations branch wise/ semester wise, certificate of appreciation will be given on the basis of marks obtained and circulate it among the students.
- A provision of special scholarship has been created for those meritorious students who secure first, second & third position branch wise, Year wise, the scholarship will be awarded at the time of Annual function.
- Above parameters will be maintained by the Dean Academics in collaboration with the COE & the Deans. A report must be submitted the given to Vice-Chancellor.
5. Policy for conduct of lecture in class room
- Only teachers (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor & Professor) will be entitled to take the lecture in class room as per allotment in time table.
- Lecture loads will be allotted as per guide lines of university| AICTE/U.G.C.
- All teachers will ensure that they teach only relevant topics not go to other topics which technically | emotionally misbalance the students.
- All teachers will ensure the course completion in due time , In case they need extra lectures, they will demand to their respective HOD and after informing to the Dean through HOD, he|she will arrange the extra classes.
- Lecture progress report| course completion report will be monitored by the Dean at least three times in a semester or whenever required in collaboration with respective HOD and submit the report to the Vice-Chancellor for further action.
6. Policy related to conduct of experiment in laboratory
- In practical classes at least one faculty member & one lab instructor will be allotted for each batch. Batch should be not more than 30 students.
- Respective faculty members & lab instructors will be responsible to conduct all the practical’s as prescribed by the university. In case of any type of discrepancy of instruments, it must be reported in maintenance cell through respective Dean. Separate practical classes will be arranged to complete the remaining practical at a later stage.
- Respective faculty member will arrange the practical’s by forming group of students, if required and all practical’s must run by various groups on the same time.
- Faculty member will demonstrate about the experiments and verify the observations taken by group of students.
- Before allotment of the next experiment, faculty member will ensure the checking of practical hand book by putting signature after conducting viva-voice on respective experiment.
7 . Policy of assignment
- Each faculty member will prepare at least one assignment per unit collecting from various sources. After completion of unit, he| she will provide the assignment to students to solve.
- Each assignment will consist of five questions and will be of 10 marks, and each question carry equal marks. Marks should be given on each question.
- Questions of assignment should be framed to promote the self-learning understanding, analyzing behavior & creativity in students.
- Faculty members will discuss the assignment in the class and get the feedback of the questions, given to the students.
- All faculty members will ensure the mapping of questions given in assignments to course outcomes. It will be supervised by the respective HOD and will take necessary action.
8. Policy related to project
- All Deans / HOD’s will advise the students at the end of semester (before going for summer training) that they will prepare the topic of the project and one page write-up on the project, which they will submit to their respective HOD in beginning of 7th semester.
- All HOD’s will form a committee in the department to allot the project & project guide. One faculty will guide at the most 5 – 6 groups of students and each group will consist of 2 – 4 students. All departments will schedule the presentation of each student.
- The projects will be evaluated on the parameters decided by each department and marks will be given group wise and students wise.
- Each project guide will be responsible to map the parameters with P.O’s & P.S.O”s .
- A project exhibition at the institute level will be planned at the end of the session and if possible all projects will be evaluated by external experts and for first , second & third positions. Appreciation awards to these positions will be given by the management. It is also advised that project should be converted in the form of research paper also.
9. Policy of guest lecture
- All Deans/HOD’s will plan for guest lectures from academicians, industrialists, Trainers etc. as per requirement of the syllabus or beyond the syllabus to fulfill the needs of student and present job market scenario & industry requirement.
- Deans/HOD’s will get prior approval by the Vice-Chancellor regarding the arrangement of guest faculty, his transportation and honorarium.
- Dean will communicate to concern guest faculty regarding the approval of the Vice-Chancellor.
- A feedback form will be filled by the students after the completion of seminar/guest lecture,
- A compilation of file of guest lectures per year will be prepared by the respective HOD/coordinator of seminar and it will be put up to the Vice-Chancellor through the Dean along with feedback for further necessary action.
10. Policy on industrial/technical training
- To strengthen & promote the technical part of students beyond the curriculum, various industrial training | technical trainings will be designed for students as per requirement.
- Each training course will be designed for at least 30 hours for a semester as per demand of the industry and present scenario.
- There will be system of feedback by students for each training course . It will compiled by HOD technical training & put up to the Director through the Dean for further necessary action.
11. Policy on industrial tour
- All Deans/HOD’s will plan the industrial visit at least once in a semester as per requirement of a particular branch & demand of market scenario.
- All Deans/HOD’s will first confirm the date & place of industrial visit through email or any other resource and then put up the case to Vice-Chancellor for approval through the Dean.
- Deans/HOD’s will get the preapproval by the Vice-Chancellor regarding transportation & other expenses through the Dean & financial section by the complaint authority.
- Faculty members will define the objective of industrial visit and map to program outcomes.
- Deans/HOD’s will compile all the reports regarding industrial visit along with feedback and put up the complete file to the Director through the Dean for further necessary action.
12. Policy on summer/industrial training/internship
- At the end of 6th semester, all HOD’s will circulate the notice of the fact that all students will submit the place of training along with full details on a given format in the department.
- Department will send all the details of student to training & placement cell for verification of place & company also required area of training. After confirmation training letter will be issued by the training and placement department after getting the approval by the Vice-Chancellor through the Dean.
- During the tenure of training | internship, all Deans/HOD’s will get feedback by company on weekly basis.
- After completion of training, all students will report to the respective department in 7th semester along with certificate & complete outcomes of training. Dean/HOD will arrange the presentation of each student and award the grade or marks as required by affiliating university
- Dean/HOD along with the co-coordinator will compile all the data and put up the complete file to the Vice-Chancellor through the Dean for further necessary action.
13. Policy related to internal semester examination
- Internal semester examination will be conducted three times in a semester for each course as per given in the academic calendar. Marks will be awarded as the average of three Sessionals for each subject. The Examination controller and examination committee will be responsible to conduct the internal Sessional exam.
- Examination controller will circulate a notice among all the HOD’s at least 10 days in advance to get prepared the question papers of each subject. All faculty members will submit question papers to their respective HOD. HOD will further send it to the Examination Controller after proper verification.
- All question papers will be prepared as per given format & guidelines of affiliating university. All questions will be mapped with level of attainment as given in outcome based system.
- Examination controller will form a committee to moderate the question papers of each subject & each Department.
- All answer books of Sessional examination will be evaluated within three days after completion of examination. Marks of each student of each question will be mapped by faculty members with the course out comes.
- A model solution of each Sessional examination will be prepared by each faculty member of each subject and it will be discussed among the students.
